How to make contact with a doctor
To make contact with a doctor, we use this Service. This is an online appointment service and is available to all our patients. We encourage everyone who has access to a computer, smart phone or tablet to use this service.
If you do not have access to a device you can call the practice and one of our patient care advisors will take a few details about you and why you are seeking medical assistance. These will be passed onto the most appropriate clinician who will get back in touch with you.
Cancellations
If you are unable to attend your appointment please let us know as soon as possible. Please cancel at least 2 hours in advance.
We operate a strict Did Not Attend (DNA) Policy. Patients who regularly fail to attend for their booked appointments, or cancel at very short notice, may be asked to leave the office.
Interpreter / Chaperone
If you require to interpreter to attend with you when you see the GP please notify the Patient Care Team prior to the appointment.
Similarly if a patient would prefer the presence of a chaperone, they should inform the Patient Care Team.
Medical education
We teach medical students and sometimes you may be asked to see the GP or clinician team with a student present. You will also be asked beforehand if this is acceptable and you may ask for the student to withdraw if you prefer to have your consultation in private.
IN A LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCY TELEPHONE 112
In all other cases telephone the 116/117
We ask that whenever possible you try to come to the practice. This is mainly because we have much better facilities for examining and treatment you at the practice – but also because it is a more efficient use of our already-stretched time.
Sometimes home visits will be required however, for example for patients who are too ill or incapable of travelling to the practice and who live within the Practice area.
We strongly urge that, wherever possible, home visits be requested on Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday.
We are unable to offer home visits to patients who live outwith the area.
If you wish to know about a specimen, blood or other test result/s the Team will be able to report them over the telephone if your results are available. Please provide your name, date of birth and telephone number to the Patient Care Advisor.
The Patient Care Advisor might typically report as follows:
“Your test results are satisfactory which is good news.”
“Your test results are satisfactory but you should come back in to see the doctor if your symptoms are still troubling you.”
“Your test results have come back. Please come in to see the doctor soon / at your convenience to discuss them.”
If you wish to receive a copy of your test results please let us know.
